The Citizens are trying to adapt to life under Pep Guardiola but the cancellation of the derby has left them frustrated ahead of the new Premier League season

Manchester City could be heading into a mauling when they take on Borussia Dortmund at the Universiade Sports Center in Shenzhen on Thursday.
City’s pre-season plans were dealt a blow earlier this week when their clash with Manchester United was called off thanks to the shoddy state of the Bird’s Nest pitch in Beijing – much to Pep Guardiola’s annoyance.
“It wasn't the water, it wasn't the rain, it was just the state of the pitch,” he fumed. “We have played in really bad conditions in our careers, but that pitch two days ago was impossible to play on.
“If we had played on that pitch, the fans would have said 'what is that game?' because it was unacceptable.”
Guardiola’s mood is understandable, even if City privately insist that their official position is somewhat calmer. But the club had only scheduled four matches this summer as Guardiola looks to get his new players up to scratch, and that has now been reduced to three. Their last game came over a week ago, and was their first of the summer.
Dortmund, conversely, have already played five times and their last fixture came against United, who had also only played one match. The outcome was one-sided, with the Germans running rings around Jose Mourinho’s side in a 4-1 rout.
The planned Manchester derby would have provided both teams with the opportunity to face a rival on an even footing.
Both clubs still have work to do in the transfer window - in terms of incomings and outgoings - both have players only just coming back from international tournaments, both are adapting to new systems under new managers, and both will have similar fitness levels.

Dortmund, however, will provide much sterner opposition. Even with Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back in Germany, the latter to attend the birth of his second son, Thomas Tuchel’s men are a well-oiled machine.
Unlike City and United, they have been playing the way their manager intends for years, and they know their roles to a tee. New boys like Ousmane Dembele seem to be slotting in perfectly, as his wonder goal against the Red Devils showed. Their advanced fitness levels also mean they will be better equipped to cope with the hot conditions in Shenzhen.
City were always likely to taste defeat against Bayern Munich in their first match last Wednesday, with Guardiola’s former club being well versed in his methods, especially compared to his new charges.
But a youthful, makeshift side put up a good fight in the Allianz Arena and there were positives to take from it, most notably concerning young full-backs Pablo Maffeo and Angelino, new arrival Oleksandr Zinchenko, and a clear desire to dominate possession.
A one-sided contest against Dortmund, however, is unlikely to do City much good, especially as they build towards the type of dominant football that Guardiola will want to deploy when the season proper kicks off in just over a fortnight.
The Catalan has admitted that a hastily arranged friendly behind closed doors at the club’s City Football Academy training base would be a good idea before they face Arsenal in Sweden on August 7.
Three games, each over a week apart, is not ideal preparation for a club attempting to get to grips to life under one of football’s most demanding coaches, and one who has already admitted that he will need time to get things right.
With a two-legged Champions League qualifier set for August, after City kick off the campaign against Sunderland, the club could be left wanting when competitive action gets underway.
They are building a youthful, exciting project at the Etihad Stadium, with prospects such as Marlos Moreno, 19, Leroy Sane, 20, and Gabriel Jesus, 19, set to clinch transfers in the coming weeks.
There is also confidence that a deal for 21-year-old Everton defender John Stones will also finally be completed, and that he will be the cornerstone of the defence for years to come.
But while things are progressing on the transfer front, City’s preparations on the pitch have been held up.
Their plans for long-term domination of the English and European game already moved several strides forward with the arrival of Guardiola, and several of his top targets are either already on board or will soon commit their futures.

The short-term, though, is not turning out exactly as planned.

Nigeria A *Happy-Go-Lucky State* Under the Aegis of Change Mantra

Written by Egbeolowo - Ridwan
I write as a Bonafide citizen of Nigeria

I write as a compos mentis Homo Sapien

I write as homo Politicus et Homo Socialis

I write as Albert Estein of the Century

Detonating from the grandiloquence of my academic reservoir, where i became lachrymose in my explicandum, explication and elucidation of the debilitating and oscillating economic Situation of my dear country. I  am happy to use this opportunity to express my bitter experience and hardship that is now a cankerworm in Buhari’s  Nigeria. It is no more news that  Nigeria's Mario or struggling  economy is finally and technically in recession as opines  by minister of finance. The Nigerian economy just now is on the verge of epilepsy which has put the Nigerian citizen in what I called *Happy-Go-Lucky* and in a desultory attitude.

Nigeria as a consuming nation rather than a producing nation is not only alarming but also uncalled for , that a third world nation like Nigeria prefer consumption to production which has caused more injury on her economy in the past and in years to come if care is not taken. I think at this juncture the president or the federal government just now needs to be economically indigenous with the aims of promoting Nigerian made product rather than the other way round "Exempli Gratia" the importation of toothpick up till now, is it that we don’t have the natural or artificial ingredient/atonement to produce it or what?  That’s the case and outcome for a nation who prefer consumption to production, a nation that find it difficult to increase his level of production ahead of consumption will definitely have problems in the nearest future. My pity does not only go to the average man on the street that has to take home 18k minimum wage as salary or less but what the future hold for Nigeria as a state but not yet a nation.

The current economic situation of Nigeria has left her citizens in a desultory attitude to the extent at which the hope and survival of the common man on the street is in a state of oblivion while majority of our leaders live in peasanted luxury and propensity solitude. The most Exasperating of all is the security issue that our leaders hold with levity hand, like my usual saying *we voted for change, he got victory but what we get in return, what we get in appreciation is the colossal, gargantuan and humongous high cost of living which is radically and critically affecting the Nigerian citizen to the extent at which some are now into one or two forms of vices such as Kidnapping, armed robbery, terrorism which threatens the very fabric of the nations economy.I think  if there is humongous high cost of living, at least the security and welfare of the people should be a priority and subject  of importance as entrenched in the 1999 constitution section14(2B) rather than taken it with levity hand.

I am using this media platform to crave the APC- LED-ADMINISTRATION THAT FOLLOWING THEIR ANTECEDENT AND PEDIGREE WE KNOW THEM, THEY SHOULD PROVE THEIR CHANGE  mantra and stop putting blames on the past administration because that was the main reason why my fellow Nigerians opted for change in 2015. And also, It is very sad to know about the recent *I DON’T CARE ATTITUDE COCOONED WITH TRIBALISTIC MANIFESTATION THAT GREETED our Dear PRESIDENT*  The president as a matter of fact needs to educate its people on the importance of living together and understand the beauty and implication of Esprit De Corps . the President just now needs to show more than a Lethargic, more than a Complacent, more than a Passive interest in ensuring the unification of its people otherwise nepotism, tribalism, impunity, ethnicity would be the other of the day.

There are circumstantial evidence on Tribalistic manifestation that greeted our Dear President, a cornucopia evidence that suggest what was to be demonstrated by our dear President

What are the circumstantial evidence?

1. A couple of weeks ago a 73 year old Christian grandmother was beheaded in Kano because she asked some Muslims to stop washing their feet in front of her door before their prayers.

2. A few days later a female pastor of the redeemed church of God was hacked to pieces by a mob of Muslims in the Kubwa district of Abuja simply for doing her morning cry of evangelism and urging the people to give their lives to Christ.

3. not too long after that two hundred Muslim youths burnt down a catholic church claiming that they had no right to go to church on Friday because it was the Muslim day of worship

4. The Benue massacre orchestrated, animated and masterminded by the Fulani Herdsmen.

Considering the Aforementioned one can quickly say tribalism is on the rise because our government appears to be encouraging it by allowing injustice to pass by without doing the need be to put justice at the prevailing point. This is sardonically lugubrious, exasperating, attenuating, disgusting, horrific and unpleasant to the ears.  Are southerners and Christians not Nigerians as well? For how long will this racism go on?  Does the principle of federal character still in place?

THE PRESIDENT AS A MATTER OF URGENCY AND EXIGENCY SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS *HORNET”S NEST* BECAUSE THIS IS NOT THE CHANGE WE AGREED ON OR ARE U GUYS PLANNING TO ISLAMISE NIGERIA……. THE LORD IS OUR STRENGHTH…….E GO BETTER MY PEOPLE……CHANGE IS A GRADUAL PROCESS AS THEY SAY, LET SEE IF THEY HAVE THE ABRACADABRA TO TRANSFORM AND TRANSMUTE OUR SORRY STATE... ALUTA CONTINUA, VICTORIA ASCERTA

Charge Jonathan, Dasuki, and other ex-service chief to court- Abayomi Muraina

– A renowned security expert, Abayomi Nurain Mumuni has called on the Federal Government to charge the former President, Goodluck Jonathan; ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and other beneficiaries of the $2.1bn arms cash to the International Criminal Court  – Mumuni described the unpatriotic conduct of ex- President Jonathan and his cohorts as a criminal offence, which is punishable under international law Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Goodluck Jonathan A renowned security expert, Abayomi Nurain Mumuni has called on the Federal Government to charge the former President, Goodluck Jonathan; ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and other beneficiaries of the $2.1bn arms cash to the International Criminal Court in the Hague for war crimes against Nigerians who lost their lives during the Boko Haram reign of terror. Speaking with newsmen ahead of the release of his second book, ‘Demand by Terror’, Mumuni said the ex-NSA’s role in sharing funds meant for the procurement of ammunition for the Nigerian military empowered the dreaded Boko Haram militants to kill thousands of Nigerians and destroy property worth billions of naira. ‘Demand by Terror’ is the sequel to ‘Global Terrorism and its Effects on Humanity’ by the same author, and would be launched in the United States of America in September to commemorate the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre Twin Towers by terrorists fifteen years ago. According to the author, While Boko Haram embarked on the brutal and indiscriminate killing of the Nigerian citizens, the Jonathan administration, through the ex-NSA, was busy sharing money meant for the purchase of arms for our military. At the time Boko Haram was taking over cities in the Northeast, the military was helpless; not that they couldn’t fight but they were using substandard weapons. READ ALSO: Controversy: Deep secrets into Buhari’s government exposed – Dr Junaid spits He described the unpatriotic conduct of former President Jonathan and his cohorts as a criminal offence, which is punishable under international law. “Apart from the money laundering charges they are presently facing, this (war crimes charge) is really a criminal offence, punishable under international law. Money laundering is a crime, but this is a greater criminal offence because under their nose, they allowed Boko Haram to thrive. They aided terrorists by stealing money meant for arms to fight the same terrorists that have wrecked havoc in Nigeria and other neighbouring African countries. “Once they are done with the money laundering charges, Dasuki should be charged. Jonathan too should be tried becuase he knew how the money was distributed. All other beneficiaries involved should also be charged for war crimes. They would have curtailed the activities of the group if they had done what President Buhari is doing now,” he noted. The 2011 Lagos State governorship candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) commended President Buhari for his anti-corruption campaign, which led to the discovery of the massively looted cash embezzled by the last administration. He said; “President Buhari should be commended for his anti-corruption campaign. I have known him for close to 2 decades. We were together during our days in the defunct All Progressives Party (APP). When he founded the now defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), we were together. I know him very well. He’ll never disappoint Nigerians. All we need to do is support, encourage and pray for him. Mumuni however cautioned the Nigerian military not to rejoice in the fight against Boko Haram, stressing that it is not over, until it’s finally over. According to him, “No doubt, FG is winning the war against Boko Haram insurgents, but it’s not time for celebration because the sect members are now widespread, recuperating somewhere; and they can strike whenever they want to. That’s why the military should continue their search for them, especially within our land borders. “Remember the Maitatsine crisis in the 80s? They metamorphosed into what we know today as Boko Haram with the help of cross-border terrorists. They are not Nigerians. Most of them are not even practising Muslims. They are cross-border terrorists. That’s why we need to strengthen the security in our borders. I was not surprised when I read that some Boko Haram members were apprehended in a church in Lagos. If we fail to tighten the security of our land borders, many of them will still find their way in and continue their nefarous atrocities.” Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Sambo Dasuki Comparing the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to Boko Haram, Mumuni, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stated that the former is not a terrorist group, but are fighting for their rights in violent ways. He said; “The NDA are not terrorists. They are fighting for their rights and if you’ve been to their regions, you’ll feel for them. However, they are going about it in a wrong way. Their modus operandi is totally unacceptable. It falls under terror, even though their reasons are justifiable. They should have dialogued with the government instead of going violent. “This is an act of terrorism and Nigeria is too big for a small group to hold government into ransom. They can’t fight government and win despite their access to ammunition. If government descends heavily on them, they’ll pay dearly for it, and it might even lead to war crimes. “They have forgotten that their state governments collect derivation funds and other allocations from the Federal Government. They should hold their governments responsible for the poor level of development in the their region, because some people are directly benefiting from such. They should dialogue with the government. Violence begets violence. The President Buhari I know is a listening president,” he stated. https://www.naij.com/902865-goodluck-jonathan-dasuki-others-charged-war-crimes.html

I only want the best for my clients- Mino Raiola

The Italian agent says he is not bothered if his client becomes the most expensive player ever by joining Manchester United, insisting he only wants what is best for the midfielder
Agent Mino Raiola does not "give a damn" if it costs Manchester United a world-record fee to prise Paul Pogba away from Juventus, insisting his only concern is getting the best deal for his client.
France international Pogba departed Old Trafford to join Juve on a free transfer in 2012 and has since developed into one the world's best players during his time in Turin, winning four straight Serie A titles with the club.
Goal understands the 23-year-old is now close to joining United for €110m (£92m), while other reports suggest Raiola could earn as much as €21.9m (£18.4m) from any deal that goes through.
That would surpass the current €100m (£85m) world-record fee Real Madrid forked out to land Gareth Bale from Tottenham, but Raiola says the price it will take to sign Pogba is not his concern.

"For me, I do not give a damn about record transactions," he said in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.
"The newspapers write that Pogba can set the record, but I've already made records with [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [Pavel] Nedved.
"I want the best for my players and therefore also for Pogba. There are certain things I only discuss with my clients and they know how things are."

Presidency Dialogues with Niger Delta Militants Group.

President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday in Abuja said that his administration was talking to Niger Delta militants through oil companies and law-enforcement agencies to find a lasting solution to insecurity in the region.

He was speaking during a farewell audience with Mr. Michael Zinner, the outgoing Ambassador of Germany to Nigeria at the presidential villa, spokesman Garba Shehu said in a statement.
He told the ambassador that his government was studying the instruments of the Amnesty Programme inherited from the previous administration with a view to carrying out commitments it made that were undelivered.
“We understand their feelings,” the President said.  “We are studying the instruments.   We have to secure the environment, otherwise investment will not come.  We will do our best for the country," he affirmed.
President Buhari used the opportunity to thank the government of Germany for its continuing support of Nigeria in the efforts to tackle insecurity and the on-going rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced citizens in crisis areas in the North-Eastern parts of the country.
He also thanked Nigeria’s neighbours for their firm and unflinching support in the war against terror.
Mr. Zinner, in his comments, noted that bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany have improved very much since the beginning of the Buhari administration.
He expressed the readiness of Germany to assist Nigeria in the rehabilitation process in the North East to help displaced persons return to their villages. He also expressed the eagerness of German businesses to invest in the country, as “conditions for investment have been put in place”.
The outgoing German Ambassador reiterated the standing invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel to President Buhari to visit Germany.
President Buhari and outgoing German Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Zenner
