Lostprophets' Ian Watkins guilty of child sex offences

Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins accepted he was a 'determined and committed paedophile'

Ian Watkins, singer of Welsh rock band Lostprophets, has pleaded guilty to a series of "depraved" child sex offences including attempted rape of a baby.

He had previously "furiously denied" the allegations.
The 36-year-old from Pontypridd and two women had been due to stand trial at Cardiff Crown Court.
Watkins pleaded guilty to attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13 but not guilty to rape. This was accepted by the prosecution.
Sentencing will take place on 18 December.
Prosecuting barrister Chris Clee QC told the court: "Ian Watkins was the lead singer in a successful band called the Lostprophets.
"He accepts he was a determined and committed paedophile."
Watkins also admitted three counts of sexual assault involving children and six involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.
The evidence against the defendant came from computers, laptops and mobile phones.
One laptop seized from Watkin's home was password protected with an obscenity relating to sexual activity with children, which was uncovered when it was sent to GCHQ to be cracked.
The court heard that he filmed and kept the episodes of abuse - which took place in various hotels in London and south Wales - which were recovered by police. Some of the evidence was too extreme and distressing to report.

Referring to two women standing alongside Watkins in the dock, Mr Clee said: "Both women sexually abused their own children and made them available to Watkins for him to abuse."
The court was told how the abuse of the children by all parties was also evident in text messages.
Watkins sent a text to one of the women saying: "If you belong to me, so does your baby."
In an exchange involving the other woman, she sent Watkins a message along with an image of her child to the effect that her child needed to know she was not loved.
Watkins also planned to "teach" the babies how to take drugs, the hearing was told.
Mr Clee said drugs played "a significant part in his offending against children".

Who are Lostprophets?

Lostprophets, an alternative rock band from Pontypridd in the south Wales valleys, formed in 1997.
The band was founded by lead singer Ian Watkins, bassist Mike Lewis, drummer Mike Chiplin and guitarist Lee Gaze.
They released five albums, and their biggest hits included Last Train Home and Rooftops. The band sold about 3.5 million albums worldwide.
Their music received heavy airplay on mainstream radio stations and they were a staple festival act at the likes of Reading and Leeds, but they struggled to be taken seriously in the rock fraternity as their music became increasingly pop-orientated.
The band announced they were splitting up in October, ten months after Watkins was charged.
Former south Wales music journalist Gavin Allen says: "They achieved real success, but their career - and back catalogue - will now be so tainted that it is hard to see any radio stations playing their music again.
"Their legacy has just vanished."

Mr Clee told the court drugs were a "regular theme" in his dealings with the two other defendants.
Claiming his innocence, Watkins had told police during interviews he was being stalked by "a crazed fan" and other people had access to his computers.
He claimed he was the "victim of a malicious campaign".
The court heard in Oct 2006, Watkins met up in a hotel with a 16-year-old girl from Boston, who he had met during during a Lostprophets concert.
She dressed in a schoolgirl's outfit and he filmed their encounter.
In Oct 2008 he filmed himself having sex with another 16-year-old girl, who was also a Lostprophets fan.
Exploited status One of the two women charged alongside Watkins, Woman A, admitted the attempted rape of a baby after denying rape and two charges of sexual assault as well as taking and distributing an indecent photograph of a child.
Woman B pleaded guilty to conspiring to rape a child, three sexual assault charges and four charges of taking, possessing or distributing indecent images.
After hearing legal argument from barristers, Mr Justice Royce called the jury into court and told them: "There will not be a trial in this case. The defendants have all pleaded guilty to nearly all the charges against them. The prosecution does not seek a trial in these circumstances.
"You have been saved from having to watch extremely graphic and distressing material."
Mr Clee told the judge there had been an argument regarding what some key video evidence showed.
"From the footage, there is an argument as to whether the full offence (of rape) is made out," he told judge Mr Justice Royce.
"If it is made out, it is minimal. There is so little difference between the full attempt and the attempt as to make no difference."

Watkins used his fame to abuse young children, police said

Sally O'Neill, defending Watkins, said the singer was under the care of a psychiatrist.
Speaking outside the court, Det Ch Insp Peter Doyle from South Wales Police said: "This investigation has uncovered the most shocking and harrowing child abuse evidence I have ever seen.
"There is no doubt in my mind that Ian Watkins exploited his celebrity status in order to abuse young children.
"Today's outcome ensures the three people responsible have been brought to justice."
"Two very young children have been removed from this abuse and given a future that would otherwise have been denied them.
"The investigation has been extremely complex and challenging with key information and evidence being identified from witnesses worldwide."
He added that today's guilty pleas did not mark the end of the investigation and the force would work "tirelessly" to identify other victims or witnesses.
Lostprophets guitarist Lee Gaze expressed his relief on Twitter that the case had been concluded, writing: "That was over quick.... Thanks for the kind words. At least there is closure now."

US planes challenge China air zone

The US has flown B-52 military aircraft over disputed islands in the East China Sea in defiance of new Chinese air defence rules, officials say.

China set up its "air defence identification zone" on Saturday.
A US colonel said the two planes had followed "normal procedures, which include not filing flight plans, not radioing ahead".
The islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China, are a source of rising tension between the two nations.
China is insisting that aircraft entering its air defence zone must obey its rules or face "emergency defensive measures".
"We have conducted operations in the area of the Senkakus," said US Colonel Steve Warren, adding that so far there had been no response from China.
The aircraft, which were unarmed, had taken off from Guam on Monday and the flight was part of a regular exercise in the area, a US defense the official said.

In a series of Twitter messages, the bank officials on Wednesday April 3, 2013, informed the actor and his management team, that they have tracked down the impostor, “This is to inform @jimiykeofficial @greyology that we have tracked the impostor. He confessed to getting money from unsuspecting people via d scam and has since being handed over to d Onitsha police” @myfcmb tweeted.
This comes less than a week after the actor publicly denied owning an account on Instagram, the picture sharing social site.
Mitch Ngaman, Iyke’s media manager, confirmed the story and added that efforts are in place to ascertain whether or not there is a connection between the facebook impostor and the one on Instagram.

A woman who Chinese officials said was 127 years old – although international authorities never recognised the claim – has died, relatives said on Tuesday.

Official documents said that Luo Meizhen was born in 1885, which would make her the oldest person ever to have lived, but she died at the weekend after months of illness, her son Huang Youhe said.
“She was 127 when she died, it wasn’t unexpected,” her grandson Huang Heyuan said.
Luo’s declared birth date means she may have been the oldest person in the world when she died, ahead of Japan’s Jiroemon Kimura, who records say is 116.
But Luo’s claim met with little recognition internationally because China did not have a reliable birth certification system until decades after she was born.
Scepticism was further fuelled by reports of the youthfulness of her sons, one of whom she was said to have given birth to at the age of 61.
According to Guinness World Records, the oldest person ever to have lived was Jeanne Calment of France, who was 122 years and 164 days when she died in 1997.
Luo’s 1885 birth date was quoted on her official residency permit and identity card, both issued in recent decades, and was confirmed by a state-sponsored research institute in 2010.
China’s official Xinhua news agency ran reports of her 127th birthday celebrations on its website in October, describing her as China’s oldest person.
“She was a kind person but at times had a very bad temper, she had a strong character,” Huang Heyuan said.
Luo, who worked as a farmer all her life, and gave birth to five children, is survived by several great-great grandchildren in the remote village of Longhong, in China’s southern province of Guangxi.
The village is part of Bama county, a poor region that officials say is home to more than 80 centenarians.
Her relatives gathered in her simply furnished brick house Tuesday to light red incense sticks in remembrance.
Relatives said they had stored her body on a mountain close to their home and were waiting for an auspicious date later this month to bury her. [AFP]

Two Sisters Killed As Gas Cylinder Explodes In Abuja

Two sisters were Friday night killed in an explosion that rocked a village in Abuja.
Faith Oche, 31, and Mary Oche, 25, said to be co-tenants to Miss Rose died as a result of the explosion which arose from a domestic gas cylinder in Rose’s property.
The explosion, according to eyewitnesses, sounded like a bomb went off, as it rocked the village to its foundation with people scampering for safety.
The hardest hit by the explosion were the sisters whose remains were a gory sight, as the head of one was reportedly blown off, while the second had her head shattered.
According to an eyewitness, Mr. Joseph Mark, a tenant in the house, Miss Rose, who was cooking in her apartment, found that a fire had entered the nozzle of the cylinder and threw it outside the compound.
Mark said when people saw the cylinder with burning fire, they ran and prepared water and detergent solution and sands which they were throwing at a distance to put out the fire.
He said the two sisters, Mary and Faith showed some bravery as they approached the cylinder with the aim of throwing in more sand, but unfortunately, the cylinder exploded suddenly into their faces.
Police officers who visited the scene, said investigation had commenced into the matter while the bodies of the victims had been deposited at the mortuary of the National Hospital, Abuja.

Pay As You Lodge: Government Officials Barred From Free Accommodation At Obudu Ranch

Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has placed a ban on free accommodation at the Obudu Ranch Resort for political appointees and other government officials.
The governor made this announcement during a post-mountain race press conference at the plateau, saying henceforth, any government official wishing to lodge at the famous resort must be prepared to pick his or her feeding and accommodation bills.
According to him, the government’s decision became imperative to enable tourists have access to the mountain race championship because the number of visitors has always been checked by the number of government officials who are accommodated within the resort.
“I do not mind getting accommodated at Obudu town or nearby Ogoja to enable tourists from within and outside the country be accommodated in the resort,” he said.
On the economic value of the championship, the governor explained that it had made tremendous social and economic impact and had created value for the young ones who participate while its greatest asset is the promotion of mountain race.
On the status of the Obudu Mountain Resort, the governor reasoned that like in East Africa, it should have been taken over by the federal government and classified a national heritage, and that a partnership with federal government could assist combat its challenges like that of the access road.
The governor revealed that the state had spent N1.5 billion to install facilities at the Bebi Airstrip to enhance hitch-free air travel, and that similar equipment are found only in Lagos and Abuja airports, but unfortunately the domestic traffic to the ranch has not yet hit its peak.

Bayern Munich Chief Rules Out Messi Bid.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has distanced the club from rumours suggesting a possible reunion between four-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi and Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.

Messi, who played under Bayern boss Guardiola when the Spaniard was at the Nou Camp helm, has had an underwhelming run of form by his own stratospheric standards.
“I know they would never sell Messi. He is a saint at Barcelona,” Rummenigge said.
“I think it would be in Messi’s best interest to stay at Barcelona. He fits in perfectly there.”

The Barcelona star player has not scored in his last five league games and was ruled out for between six and eight weeks this month because of a hamstring injury.

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has extolled the virtues of the matriarch of the Awolowo family, Mrs. Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, who clocked 98 yesterday.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Mrs. Funmi Wakama, Amosun said Awolowo “remains a source of inspiration to all, as generations upon generations continue to draw from her wealth of experience.”
“HID remains the quintessence of honesty, discipline, integrity, modesty and compassion,” the governor added.
According to him, despite her old age, the nonagenarian has continued to harp on an egalitarian society, a nation of equity, justice and fairness.
Also wishing the nonagenarian a happy birthday was former Ekiti State Governor, Chief Segun Oni, who described Awolowo as “the real conscience and mother of the Yoruba nation.”
In his congratulatory message to her, Oni said: “Mama’s untiring efforts at building and sustaining the unity of the Yoruba nation and ensuring its worthy pride of place within the context of Nigeria’s federal structure is commendable.

Oil Workers Vow To Block Sale Of Oil Refineries

Oil workers, under the auspices of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) have described the planned sale of the nation’s refineries as a move against the national interest of Nigerians, but only in the interest of “a few Nigerians who are lurking around the corridor of power to milk the country dry.” The workers therefore vowed to resist the plan to privatise the refineries.
Speaking against the backdrop of the plan by the federal government to privatise the refineries located in Kaduna, Warri and Port Harcourt, PENGASSAN President, Mr. Babatunde Ogun, berated the government for its decision to sell the nation’s assets without considering available options and rational rule for such a lucrative business deal.
In a statement on the oil workers’ position on the planned sale of the refineries, Ogun alleged that the government advertently underfunded the refineries and deliberately refused to carry out routine Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) and failed to supply adequate crude oil to the refineries to have reasons for selling them to those in the corridor of power.
According to him, instead of outright sale of the refineries, the federal government should adopt the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) model in making the refineries more efficient.
Under the model, the National Oil Company (NOC) will emerge owners of the four refineries, holding a substantial minority share, while core investors and local participants will hold the majority while the staff, trade unions and the host communities hold minority shares.
Ogun said the refineries should be stand-alone entities independent of either the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) or the proposed National Oil Company (NOC) as contained in the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), while the board of management of each refining company should be fully responsible for its success and failure.
He advised those planning to sell the refineries and their cronies planning to buy them to emulate Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and establish their own refineries instead of waiting to corner the nation’s common investment for their own selfish interest.

Rebel PDP members decamp to APC

Abuja - The rank and file of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has increased, as the Abubakar Baraje-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) have joined the APC, Premium Times reports.

The chairman of the faction, Abubakar Baraje announced the merger to journalists at the end of a meeting at the Kano Governors Lodge in Abuja.

This marks the end of several meetings that have been held between the rebellious faction of the PDP and the APC.

While being wooed by the APC, the New PDP leaders were also meeting with the president to resolve their differences, but were unable to resolve the conflicts of intrest.

Shots fired at Stella Oduah's car

Abuja - The FCT Police Command on Monday in Abuja confirmed that gunmen fired shots at the car of the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah in Abuja.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Altine Daniel, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Friday.

She added that the minister was not in the car when the incident took place.

Daniel, however, said that the incident was reported to the police on Monday at about 5:30 p.m.

According to her, some metal objects are found in the vehicle which does not look like the conventional bullet.

“The objects will be subjected to ballistic test,” she said.

According to her, investigation into the incident has begun.

Also, confirming the shooting, Special Adviser to the minister, Joe Obi, told NAN that the attack took place at the Ministers' Hill, Maitama in the FCT.

“Fortunately, the minister was not in the car at the time the attack took place.”

“An official report has been made to the police and the police are currently investigating it,” Obi said.

Imo suspend activities of motherless babies homes

Owerri - The Imo state government have ordered motherless babies homes to stop operation until they have re-registered, according to Vanguard.

This new directive comes as the state is worried about the recent boom in baby factories, where people pay to buy babies.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Nma Onyechere, made the announcement on Monday.

According to the commissioner, these ‘baby factories’ had damaged the image of Imo state, and fresh registration will help the government monitor these institutes

Oshiomhole Okays Appointment Of Obazele As New Head Of Service

Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has approved the appointment of Mr. Igbaeremen Obazele as the State’s Head of Service.

In a statement Monday signed by Secretary to the State Government, Prof Julius Ihonvbere, Gov. Oshiomhole said Obazele’s appointment was with immediate effect.
Mr Obazele, who replaces Mrs. Ekiuwa Inneh, was until his appointment the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Former Commissioner In Oyo On Trial For N77m Fraud

An oral application made by counsel to former Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Cooperative in Oyo State, Kazeem Adedeji, to discharge him of alleged N77 million fraud, was yesterday dismissed by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Standing trial alongside the former commissioner are Yinka Fatoki, a former director in the ministry and Kolawole Adewole, a member of staff. They face a six-count charge on conspiracy and N77 million fraud.
Dismissing the application, after Mr. Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), counsel to Adedeji, informed the court of a letter written by the prosecutor, Mr. Effiong Asuquo, stating he was indisposed, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke in his ruling, said he would give the prosecution one more chance before reaching a decision, and would not dismiss the charge.
Oyetibo had earlier told the court that the reasons adduced by the prosecutor for his absence, were flimsy and a deliberate attempt to evade conducting trial.
“My lord, when this case came up on October 11 for argument of the bail of the accused, the prosecutor also deliberately refused to appear in court even though he was seen in the court premises.
“This court also ordered that the prosecution furnishes the defence with proof of evidence within seven days, but up till this moment, no response has been received from the prosecution.
“The prosecutor claims he is indisposed, but there is no medical certificate to that effect before your lordship.
“I therefore urge this court to invoke the provisions of Sections 80 of the Criminal Procedure Act, and dismiss the charge against the accused,” Oyetibo said.
The three accused persons were granted bail at the sum of N10 million each with two sureties each in like sum.

Prostitute Dies During Love Making Resurrects In Coffin

A prostitute in Bulowayo, Zimbabwe, is bringing new meaning to the term “killer s*x” after authorities thought she died during an encounter with a customer.

However, she came back to life just as officials placed her in a metal coffin.

The incident occurred last week at the Manor Hotel and the escort, later identified as MaNdlo, reportedly collapsed and died while having s*x with a client.
But when authorities came to collect the body of the prostitute and put it in a steel coffin, she suddenly woke up in a panic screaming, “You want to kill me!” at the officers.
Seeing a woman presumed to be dead spring back to life shocked onlookers, many of whom ran away in fear.
“It was like a movie,” a source said. “People were running away in different directions. It was a scary incident because we were all convinced that she had died because she was just cold. Miracles surely do happen.”
MaNdlo was taken home by another working girl and the unidentified John who allegedly “killed” her reportedly sneaked out of the hotel moments after the cops had left.

Stop Working Against Our Interest, ASUU Urges Members

Dr Oghenekaro Ogbinaka, Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Lagos Chapter, on Tuesday urged the union’s members to desist from working against its interest.
Ogbinaka made the appeal in a statement he made available to journalists in Lagos.
He said that the members should not allow their selfish interests to overshadow the interest of the union.
He alleged that some members of the chapter called an illegal congress recently but failed in their bid to carry out `illegal activities’.
“Congress anticipated their plot that was borne out of greed.
“No member of the University of Lagos Branch of the ASUU is, therefore, taken aback on their action,” he said.
He described such as an action as misguided, and urged ASUU members to desist from such.

24-yr-old Farmer Arrested For Beheading Toddler For Rituals

A 24-year-old farmer, Danladi Abubakar, who allegedly beheaded an eleven-month-old girl for rituals has been arrested by the Niger State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.
He confessed that the deal was to fetch him N20,000.
He was allegedly contracted by a man in Bida, Niger State, who is said to be on the run.
The farmer was said to have sneaked into the room of the baby’s father, Malam Mohammed Worogi, where he smuggled the baby to a hidden place and beheaded her. He also severed her private parts.
The sudden disappearance of the child soon aroused the parent’s curiosity.
The villagers then constituted a search party but their efforts did not immediately yield any dividend until a special prayer was organised.
After the prayers, Danladi came out and confessed to the crime.
The incidence was immediately reported at the police divisional office in Lemu town leading to Danladi’s arrest.
He was immediately charged to Minna Magistrate Court 7 on one-count charge of culpable homicide punishable under Section 222 of the panel code law.
When the charge was read to him by the presiding magistrate, Maryam Ladidi King, he pleaded guilty. [Vanguard]

Gov. Dickson Restates Commitment To Brass LNG Project

Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa on Monday reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to ensure the actualisation of the Brass Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) project.

The governor made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to the Amanayabo of Twon Brass, King Alfred Diette-Spiff at Twon Brass during a “Thank You Tour’’ of Brass Local Government Area.
He told the people of the local government that his administration was ready to partner with the Federal Government and other investors to ensure the take-off of the Brass LNG project.
Dickson, who described the project as “very crucial” to the economic development of the state and the country at large, said the state government was also interfacing with stakeholders to ensure the commencement of the Brass fertilizer project.
The governor said that the successful take-off of the projects would go a long way in boosting the state’s economy.
He commended the people of Brass for their support for him during and after his election as governor of the state.
He said the people’s peaceful disposition enabled his administration to embark on projects such as a general hospital and a world-class model secondary school in the area.
He added that the state government had awarded contracts for the construction of a modern landing jetty and water reticulation projects, among others, in the area.
Earlier, King Alfred Diete-Spiff had expressed delight over the governor’s visit and lauded the governor for his developmental strides in the area and the state in general.
The address, which was read by Chief Serena Dokubo-spiff on behalf of the king, highlighted Dickson’s achievements in the areas of security, infrastructure development and appointment of Brass indigenes into positions of trust.
“Your activities in the kingdom are visible for appreciation.
“The peace and security prevailing in our community is easily traceable to you. This is very reassuring in that we have a leadership in the state that is truly committed to the aspirations and yearnings of the people”.
He called for government’s assistance in the construction of the Yenagoa-Brass link road and the reinstatement of Brass as headquarters of the Central Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy.

Police Confirm Multiple Attacks In Plateau State

The police in Plateau on Tuesday confirmed that multiple attacks were carried out on four communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state on Monday.

The report said many people were confirmed dead with several others injured in the attacks on the communities.
Mrs Felicia Anselem, the spokesperson of the command, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos that the attacks were carried at about 1 a.m.
“The attacks were carried out concurrently at four different locations at Rawuru, Tasu, Foron and Gurabok.
“There are many people dead and several others injured, but we cannot give the exact number of the casualties yet because our men are collating the figures,’’ Anselem said.
The spokesperson, however, said that the casualty figure would be publicised after collation.
Capt. Salisu Mustapha, the spokesperson of the Special Task Force (STF) in charge of security in Plateau also confirmed the attack to NAN.
Mustapha said the STF was still gathering the details of the incident and could not give the casualty figures.
“I will give the details of the incident as soon as we have them,’’ he said.
NAN reports that before the incidents, there were two other attacks in Barkin Ladi and Shendam local government areas in the last five days.
The police had said five people were killed in those attacks. (NAN)

Retired Boxing Coach Worried Over ASUU Strike

National boxing coach Obisia Nwakpa, who recently retired from the service of the National Sports Commission and the Nigerian Boxing Federation, is a bit worried about his future.
“Unending strike by university lecturers is my problem now. I had looked forward to having a quiet time in retirement and I had so planned it to coincide with my last two children graduating this year from university such that I would be free from paying school fees. However, it looks like I have to live a bit more with this issue than I had hoped,” he stated.
Besides this issue, the former African and Commonwealth Super-lightweight champion,who got a shot at the world title in 1981 against Saoul Mamby in Lagos but lost has since been looking for a new role to build on.
“Outside of this, I think I’m okay. I have had a fruitful and swell time any boxer or ex- athlete in Nigeria would have because besides my job as a coach, the Nigerian Army made me comfortable. I believe the struggle continues,” he said.
Asked to point the way forward for boxing, Obisia said, “there has to be massive investment in the sport, on equipment, on training for boxers, coaches and ring officials which are areas we have neglected. Boxers will need regular competitions at home and abroad and the National Sports Commission has to fund this. The boxing federation too has a role to play by being in the forefront of re-engineering boxing,” he said.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said it has lost confidence in the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega to conduct free and fair elections following the controversies trailing the conduct of the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State.

The party also declared that the contest was not between it and the ruling party in Anambra State, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), but between the Presidency and APC.
The interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed made this known yesterday in Abeokuta, during the 2013 annual lecture of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter.
The APC spokesman, who delivered a lecture on ‘Nigeria, 53 Years After: Problems and Prospects,’ described the Anambra election as very important and a precursor to the Ekiti, Osun governorship elections in 2014 and 2015 general elections, saying, ”if we don’t get it right now, it portends trouble for Nigeria.
“No amount of mobilisation or registration you do will help you if the umpire remains the INEC. If the treatment you are going to get is the one you got in Anambra. As of today, if INEC chairman can admit that somebody tried to compromise the register in Idemili North, then how are we sure any register anywhere is save?
“If they can compromise election in Idemili North, so they can do also in Ekiti or Ondo. Actually we should be more concerned about INEC than political parties. Political parties are like football teams, they want to win matches but it is for the referee to ensure that every team follows and obeys the rules.
“This is why I think Nigeria has a problem because INEC as we have today, we do not believe has the integrity to conduct any further elections in Nigeria.
“For us in APC, the matter is very clear. Anambra election is not about APC versus PDP or APGA, it is about APC versus the Presidency. Otherwise, how do we explain that PDP, whose candidate was not allowed to vote in that election, will rush to the press and say the election was free and fair?

A Colorado mother got a strange call in the middle of the night from a strange source, 1-666-666-666 and within hours she received dozens of texts from multiple numbers, all displaying ‘Satan’ on her caller ID.

The woman, Jenn Vest was half asleep while chest-feeding her son when her phone rang from the number 1-666-666-666.
She said, “It really freaked me out because I was half asleep feeding my son and it woke me up. I thought maybe I was dreaming at first, and then I stayed up the rest of the night praying and hoping nothing would happen.”

Jenn Vest said she tried calling the number back, only to get a recorded message saying the number was no longer in service.

According to report, the phone number has been used to prank people in the past, sometimes with threatening messages telling people they were going to die.

Dr. Conrad Murray in his first interview since being released from prison after spending two years for the death of Michael Jackson has said they were so close he “held his penís every night.”
In the bizarre, rambling interview, the doctor convicted of Jackson’s death painted a sad picture of The King of Pop’s final days as a physically broken 50-year-old filled with dread and self-doubt.
Jackson barely had control of his bodily functions, according to Murray.
“He wore dark trousers all the time because after he went to the toilet he would drip for hours,“ he told The Daily Mail.
“You want to know how close Michael and I were? I held his penís every night. I had to put a condom catheter on him because Michael dripped urine. He had a loss of sensation and was incontinent.”
The ex-physician goes on to say, “Michael didn’t know how to put a condom on, so I had to do it for him.”
Murray was found guilty of injecting the singer with an overdose of Propofol that killed him on June 25, 2009. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and spent nearly two years in jail.
Murray went on to say in the interview that Jackson gave himself lethal doses of anaesthesia after pleading for more drugs, and said that he was not responsible for his overdose.
“I did not kill Michael Jackson. He was a drug addict,” Murray said. “Michael Jackson accidentally killed Michael Jackson.”
“I believe he woke up, got hold of his own stash of propofol and injected himself. He did it too quickly and went into cardiac arrest.”
‘I never gave Michael anything that would kill him. I loved him. I still do. I always will,’ he exclusively tells the Mail On Sunday.
‘I tried to protect him but instead I was brought down with him.
‘It’s difficult when you ask me about Michael. There’s a void in my heart, a lingering pain. I miss him every day.’

Up and coming Nollywood goddess, Yetunde Akilapa is in the news again after the ugly incident that happened to her some months ago.

Remember she was arrested for allegedly being in possession of 100 master keys has been acquitted.

If you recall, she was detained in Alade Divisional Police headquarters in Somolu, Lagos on Thursday, February 7, 2013 after she was arrested by a mob that accused her of stealing a bunch of keys.

Speaking through her lawyer, Yetunde said that the bunch of keys found in her possession were props she used in her movie, ‘Bunmi Akata’ and that she was arrested after being framed by people she regarded as friends. The case filed under ‘Charge no F/10/13 COP v Yetunde Akilapa’ was dismissed for lack of diligent prosecution

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another plane crash what a pity

The International Aviation College, Ilorin on Monday announced the involvement of one of its aircraft in a crash.

It said one of its aircraft- Diamond DA4000 single-engine with registration number 5N-BRD was involved in the incident at about 11.33a.m.

Briefing newsmen on the incident, the Acting Rector of the Institution, AbdulKarim Nuhu said three people were on board the aircraft.

He added, “the three people on board walked away without suffering any injury. They were then taken to the college clinic for proper check and were certified okay.

“The college established contact with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) who are the only regulatory bodies responsible to brief the press on why and how this happened.”

The rector also disclosed that all the college’s aircraft were properly insured.

The Exquisite Lady of the Year (ELOY) Awards 2013 took place at the Red Carpet Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, on the night of November 24, Sunday.

Nollywood diva Rita Dominic has been announced as the winner of ELOY Awards 2013 in Best Movie Producer nomination, alongside her manager, Mildred Okwo.
Both of them won the award for the film ‘The Meeting’, which was released in 2012 and has been doing well at the big screens.
Rita Dominic is pictured below with Toke Makinwa in their outfits for the event.

Toyin Lawani stepped out in head-to-toe Chanel at last night’s event. She won Stylist of the Year at the awards.

Star actress, Tonto Dikeh, probably is the most happy of them all, as she won the award for Film Actress of the Year. She won this prize for her role in the movie, My Life, My Damage. Also nominated for the same award were the likes of Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, Jackie Appiah, Ini Edo, and Ireti Doyle.
