Boko Haram Desperately Looking For New Members, Kills Nine Travellers

boko-haram-group
Outlawed Islamist sect Boko Haram has resorted to forcing young people to join its fold as the recent military crackdown on the sect has led to death of several members, the military disclosed yesterday.
Spokesman of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Col Muhammadu Dole, told journalists in Maiduguri that the terrorists were now moving around villages and other highways to abduct and forcibly recruit innocent people to replace those killed by troops.
The insurgents, also for the second time in 72 hours, yesterday attacked travellers on the Maiduguri-Biu highway, killing nine of them.
Just last Monday, some travellers were attacked on the same road while three drivers were abducted by the insurgents, after burning their two orange-laden vehicles.
The Borno highways have become a hunting ground for the notorious sect in recent times as scores of passengers have been waylaid and killed. The most notorious of the highways is the Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu Road, which records daily attack on motorists by the militia group.
It was gathered yesterday that many motorists had to make an urgent U-turn when the sect seized control of the now notorious Maiduguri- Damboa- Biu Road.
Some of those compelled to make a forced retreat, told journalists in Maiduguri that the bodies of nine passengers were seen on the highway with their throats slashed.

LATE DEJI OF AKURE, OBA ADEBIYI ADESIDA
LATE DEJI OF AKURE, OBA ADEBIYI ADESIDA
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has described the late Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi Adesida, as an extremely detribalised Nigerian, whose love for peaceful co-existence was unparalleled.
The Sultan said this in a message of condolence to the government and people of Ondo State over the death of the monarch.
In the message signed by the Secretary of the Sokoto Sultanate Council, Alhaji Attahiru Hussaini, the Sultan also described the demise of the late Deji as a great loss not only to his immediate family or Ondo State, but to the entire country.
He appealed to his family, government and the entire Nigerians to bear the irreparable loss.
The sultan described the late traditional ruler as a very active member of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN).
Abubakar recalled the invaluable contributions of the late Deji of Akure during the recent 6th General Assembly of the council, which held in Sokoto.
The statement also quoted the Sultan as extolling the sterling qualities of the deceased towards ensuring sustainable peace and unity of the nation.
Before his demise, the deceased was the paramount ruler of Akure and the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas. (NAN)

Bill To Send Social Media Critics To Jail For 7Yrs Scales Second Reading In Senate

Bill To Send Social Media Critics To Jail For 7Yrs Scales Second Reading In Senate

censorship-blogging-social-media-Users of internet in Nigeria especially those that deploy the various social media platforms to incite the general public against the government, are in for a rude shock as the Senate has reached an advanced stage to pass a bill that proposes seven years jail term for such users.
The proposed legislation which has passed second reading in the upper legislative chamber, is also seeking stiffer punishment for internet fraudsters and scammers popularly called ‘419ers’ in Nigeria as those convicted will be sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
The joint Senate Committees on Judiciary, Human Rights and legal matters, Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes led by Senator Umaru Dahiru (PDP, Sokoto), yesterday held a one day public hearing on the bill for an act to provide for the prohibition and punishment for electronic fraud and crime in all electronic transactions in Nigeria.
Particularly of interest is Section 13 subsection 3 of the bill which stipulates that: “Anyone, who intentionally propagates false information that could threaten the security of the country or that is capable of inciting the general public against the government through electronic message shall be guilty of an offense and upon conviction shall be sentenced to seven years imprisonment or N5 million (fine)”.
Declaring the public hearing open, Senate President David Mark, who was represented by the deputy minority whip, Senator Abu Ibrahim (APC, Katsina), said electronic fraudsters pose great danger to the country and must be tackled if foreign investors are to come into Nigeria.
Similarly, chairman of the committee, Senator Dahiru, said electronic fraud was posing serious threat to world economies and Nigeria being a developing economy, cannot be left out hence the need to enact appropriate laws to deal with the challenges of the time

Must Read!!! – An Open Letter to Women from Men

images (1)Dear Women,
First of all, we’re sorry. We’re sorry that although we look like men, we often act like boys. We’re not even sure what it means to be men anymore. As we grow up, we learn that to be happy is to be self-indulgent and self-centered. We try to make enough money so that we can have the right TV with the right video games in the right home. We want to date you and maybe even marry you but we are scared to focus on someone else instead of ourselves. Isn’t it sad that we see committing to you as a potential threat to our happiness instead of a wonderful opportunity?
Here’s what we don’t understand: True happiness comes from being true men. We think and act like boys who don’t want their toys taken away. We look up to “role models” in the media who teach us to get as much gratification out of life as possible. We may claim to be spiritual, or even firm atheists, but pleasure is the god that we worship, whether we realize it or not. Unfortunately, women tend to be just another part of our hedonistic lifestyle. Please know this: True men won’t treat you like an irritating obstacle or a s*xual convenience.
A real man understands that women are to be cherished and treated with care and honor. He sees marriage as the opportunity to be a real-life superhero—he leaves behind his old identity and becomes a new person, dedicated to serving his wife and children. Although he will struggle at first, a true man who marries eventually understands that he can’t fit through the narrow doorway to happiness if he tries to carry all of his toys with him. There is just enough room for him and his wife, arm in arm, committed to their marriage.
Women, you can help us become real men! Most importantly, we want to feel admired by you. Help us to know that you love us just as we are, even if there is room for improvement. Do this by giving us words of validation; praise us for the things we do well. This means more to us than we let on.
In return, we will make sure that you feel loved and cherished by us. We will learn to talk with you so you can be heard and understood, not so that we can tell you how to solve your problems. We’ll also try to learn to express how we feel without withdrawing or getting angry. With polished communication we can learn that what makes you happy makes us happy too! What a concept!
Once again, we’re sorry. We are to blame, even though good male role models are hard to find these days. We’ve ignored our calling to become true men and instead act like we’re in high school for as long as we can. Please trust that we are capable of more than this.
If you are frustrated with the man in your life, do your best to forgive him and start fresh. After a while, if it’s clear that he will not become a real man, leave him. You deserve better.
A healthy relationship will make everyone involved feel happy. When we are happy, we are capable of living meaningful and fulfilling lives alongside one another. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we journey onward to find happiness and become real men.
Sincerely,
Men

Enyeama is he among the best in the world or not

Vincent Enyeama Only Needs 141 Minutes to Break the Record for the Highest French Ligue One Games Without Conceding.
“What can I say! I am just enjoying the moment,” Enyeama told Bein Sport.
“It’s not just me, though, it is the whole group. We stay strong like a team. We have the spirit and the strength.”
I don’t know what is possible now. All I can say is that I have a great team round me and a great set of coaches.
Enyeama only needed to protect his net for four minutes on Tuesday night to beat Sirigu’s record.
With former Lille man Florian Thauvin on the assault for Marseille, it took some super-human efforts from the Nigerian to secure his lines.
The visitors, determined to put an end to Enyeama’s run of flawless goalkeeping, came close when Andre-Pierre Gignac shrugged off a defender and only had the goalkeeper to beat but he was equal to the task, producing an unbelievable block and when the rebound fell to Mathieu Valbuena his shot drifted wide.
One double save in the second-half in particular stood out, Dimitri Payet’s fierce strike being batted away by Enyeama went straight to Gignac out wide right in the area, but his curling effort was tipped away by the goalkeeper.
Both sides looked to be on their way to sharing the spoils before Roux rewarded Enyeama’s superb display as he headed into the far corner from Idrissa Gueye’s cross.
The victory helped the Eagles first-choice complete a run of 11 consecutive clean-sheets and 14 overall in the French top flight.

Saidi Balogun Debunks Rumours on Legal Action Against Ex-Wife, Fathia

Saidi Balogun has reacted to the ‘unconfirmed reports’ that he had dragged his ex- wife, actress Fathia Balogun, to court over the use of his surname. See what the actor has said about the situation:
saidi_fathiaI would be glad if my personal life can be kept out of the public eye. If a “news story” begins with the phrase “According to unconfirmed reports,” and the affected stakeholders did not confirm such reports, is the story really newsworthy?
Punch called me about a personal issue [about previous marriage] that I have no knowledge of.
My response to them is the same response I have said times without number to all unconfirmed, untrue and other rubbish stories of the like: I, Saidi Balogun, am focusing on my work! I am married to my work and my work is all I know! When I told this to Punch, they at least printed what I said. But, they used a completely different headline that has no basis in fact, which they even admitted to themselves via their failed effort to provide evidence or confirmation of the rumor.
Abeg o, as Saidi Balogun, keep my personal life which you know nothing about out of the public eye and concentrate on the work I do that so many credible people respect me for. Thanks and God Bless all of my fans, I love you! – Saidi Balogun.

My New Husband Is Five Years Younger – Segun Arinze’s Ex Wife Reveals

Nollywood actress, Ann Njemanze, actor, Segun Arinze’s ex-wife in a recent interview with Leadership Newspaper admitted being older than her new husband, Silver Ojieson.
ann_n
Ann and Silver got married on Saturday Nov. 9th after courting for several months.
“Yes he is (younger), with a few years. My husband and I do not share up to 5 years difference and he is not bothered about it.” Ann said in the interview
She also talked about how they met and how he proposed.

How did you meet your husband?

My husband, Silver Ijieson is a lecturer. I met him at a lecture organized by the University of Lagos some 3 years back. Dr. Barclays Oyakeruma was supposed to give a lecture that day titled, ‘Nollywood and its effect on globalization’. My colleagues who were at the lecture encouraged me to come back and further my studies, I gave the excuse of no time. But Dr Oyakeruma urged me to enroll so as to broaden my knowledge. So a senior colleague of mine, Martins Odaji introduced me to my husband and we exchanged pleasantries and he said that if I needed help with my studies, I should not fail to call on him. A year later we met at the point of registering for my program.
When did he propose?
He proposed to me early this year; he just said he was going to marry me. I took it for granted, like he was just joking about it. I never saw the possibility because then he did not know much about me. I thought he just saw a woman he could exchange a lot of ideas with. He proposed to me properly seven months later, he gave me a ring. He was shaking all over like a leaf. He is light complexioned, so as he was proposing, he was all read. I love him so much because he is very courageous.

Has he ever been married before?

No, he’s never been married, no way. This is his last marriage in Jesus name. He is the only son of his parents too from Edo State.
Do you regret your first marriage?
Regret it? My daughter is taller and finer than I am. She is the headgirl of her school. In less than 2 weeks, she is going for a photo shoot. At 16, she has started earning money. She is writing for a magazine and you ask if I regret it? I thank him (Segun Arinze)!! Without him I would not have met my Silver.
Are you not afraid that your marriage might crash again?
No! I reject it. We have our differences, just like other couples do, but it is not enough to say, we no do again. Before we got married, we told ourselves that divorce and separation are no option.
